Floods of March

Here's the flooding as of 11:00 Tuesday morning.  We'll have a lot of work to do when this is over, repairing our flower beds and getting the water out of the basement.  Even our mailbox was in the middle of rushing flood water.  I've not seen this much water on the property since we've moved here four and a half years ago.  I'm very thankful we have more free mulch awaiting us to be spread in the place of all that has been swept away.

Learning New Things

I spent an afternoon with my Mom and Aunt Sarah who shared many stories about life when they were small.  It's ironic how healthy people ate then, from their own gardens, and now people spend so much time and money to have a perfect lawms, instead of gardens.  Among the things I learned that day was how to make scratch biscuits (now all I need is practice).

Busy Weekend

Steven spent the weekend painting the living room.  He took time, however, to go to the Razorback basketball game with me and Karen.  He also hung a new curtain rod, worked on the tiller for the garden, and built foundations for his bee hive.... busy, busy weekend.

Bee Keeping

Steven has decided to become a bee keeper.  We are excited about this due to the struggle bees are having world wide and the enormous impact it is and will have on our food supply.  He has been given almost a complete hive structure; he's building the frames for them and has gotten his bee suit.
