Beginning the Recovery

Saturday, Cesar and Uncle Hubert came over to help Steven begin the clean up of the yard. Three chainsaws going for hours, cutting up enormous branches and tree trunks. It was greatly needed help. Sunday afternoon, a group of guys came to help pick up the mess. Cesar, Everett, Scott, and Brian, and Steven broke up into two groups and loaded the trailer and truck with debris. They worked all afternoon and got the yard looking much better! Thank you Emily for organizing this for us. It is a relief to get a good start on the recovery. There are still many trees to cut down, huge trees fallen, more debris to pick up, but thanks to these people, our large yard (front and back) is taken care of! Thank you guys for giving your time and hard work to come help. We truly appreciate it.

Ice Storm 2009

January 27 was the beginning of a terrible ice storm. Our area was declared a disaster area. We had an inch or so of ice that broke nearly every tree we had. We were out of electricity for a week, which isn't as long as some people, who are still without power. Thankfully, we made it through it all and didn't have damage to the house, fence, or bees.
I believe God is using this to tell us he is pruning us, as well as, the nation. He's taking away things that are not good for us. He never promised life to be easy, He promised to be with us through it all.
