porch project

Steven began staining the porch this week, when the weather finally cooperated. He's not quite finished, but it is looking good!! Steven trimmed on low branches this week and also cleaned up around the storage building. We got to see the Naturals play too! Kept busy for sure. The bees are doing well. We have six hives now, thanks to the swarms this spring.
I got a bad case of poison ivy this week. What a bummer! The prednisone is kicking my tail! We had a great time going to garage sales too!

Spring Happenings

Well, we're having a great spring so far! We've been getting lots of rain here the past couple of weeks. Baby Lainey has been born to my nephew Landon and Alli and she is...perfect.

Things have been active around our house as well. We've seen a ground hog, our 'momma' deer is pregnant again, and the fox is very active. The blueberry bushes down at the front of the property have small blueberries growing, the grape vine has clusters of grapes beginning to grow, and the strawberry and wild blackberry plants are blooming. We've got our veggie garden planted with eggplant, tomatoes, a few potatoes, onion, bell peppers, squash, zucchini, cucumbers and green beans.

Steven has been given three swarms this spring so we're hoping they stay and produce a lot of good honey this year!
I've been recovering the past week so I'm hoping to be up and at them soon because I need to buy bird netting to cover the berries soon and I need to work in my closets too.

Steven has celebrated 15 years of service with UPS. I'm very proud of him.
